
Dr. Lenore Newman
Canada Research Chair, Food Security & Environment

Dr. Lenore Newman holds a Canada Research Chair in Food Security ana Environment at the University of the Fraser Valley, where she is the Director of the Centre for Food and Farmland Innovation and an associate professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment. She runs a research program focused on farmland preservation, agriculture on the rural/urban fringe, intensive agriculture, and culinary identity. Her academic career as a culinary geographer has included fieldwork around the globe studying public markets, regional cuisines, farmland use, agricultural innovation, global food security, food and health, and the geography of the world’s food system.
